ALI POWERS

Ali composes and performs in a wide variety of styles, using a range of real and often unusual instruments, to capture the sense of characters and situations. He composed the score and worked on the soundtrack of the 2012 feature film Vacation Hunter which premiered at Razor Reel in Bruges on 27 October 2013 - "..a stunning score, which really is the backbone of the project.." - Daz Spencer Lovesey in Digital FilmMaker January 2014. He recently worked as sound designer and composer for Madefire motion books.

Ali created artworks for the feature film Unmade Beds (nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (2009), winner of the Quebec Film Critics Award, and the Audience Award at the Linz Festival). He enjoys working in a variety of media and is currently working on several animation formats.

Ali's work has featured in various films including numerous shorts such as This Side of the After-Life (shown at the 2011 Raindance Festival); and The Scar Crow (winner of the best horror/sci-fi feature at the 2009 London Independent Film Festival). Ali has twenty years experience as a composer and performing musician, with several hundred songs to his credit.  He has performed at venues across the UK: from central London to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as appearing on BBC Radio and Channel 4 TV.

His experience as a writer, director, actor, and composer has led to him contributing to more than a dozen short films, including Michaelangelo’s Heroes, which won a BBC New Talent Award in 2006.

As a writer his short story The Wormcast featured in the award-winning graphic novel anthology, Event Horizon, in 2005 and 2006. He is currently writing a play about the forgotten author and beat poet John Pitore.
